Frequently Asked Questions
What power connector is that?
USB C. Almost all phones now use USB C, so you can use an old phone charger to power your Flicker Light. You should be able to use almost any USB power brick and USB cable with USB C on one end.
Why does my light keeps going out?
That is by design. If enough people request a version that doesn’t dim over time then we will oblige and make one. However for now Flicker Lights are designed to help you go to sleep and slowly going out over time is part of that.
How do I best use it?
Place your light somewhere close to a wall, within a foot or so for best results. About 15-30min before jumping into bed turn off all other lights in your room and turn on your Flicker Light. Let your eyes adjust for a moment and then get in your pajamas, brush your teeth, put on lotion, wash your face, whatever you do to get ready for bed. Of course be safe, if you really can’t see something please turn on a light. Then jump in bed. Don’t try and read a book with your flicker light, don’t look at your phone. Something that can help is to place a water bottle or similarly tall item next to your light so that it will cast a shadow on the wall. Then lay in your bed focusing on the shadows as you fall asleep.
Can I leave it plugged in all the time?
Yes, it uses almost no power after it has gone dark and very little even when it is fully on.
Why is it 3D Printed?
We would like to someday move to injection molding but at this time it is still cost prohibitive. We are still trying out new designs and seeing what our customers like most and 3D printing gives us the flexibility we need.
My light is acting funny?
Try a different USB power brick and if that doesn’t work, a different USB C cable. If neither of those fix your problem then please contact us.
